This Porch Addition Will Add Much Needed Space, But The Insulation Is Key

The framing and stairs are underway for some much needed room.

If you’ve been looking to add some much needed space to your home, one of the most popular approaches is an extension built onto the back of your existing floorpan. 2021 has seen a number of requests from our clients for porch and sunroom additions.

For example, this porch project below is one we are are actively working on this month for a client seeking not only some extra space, but a more desirable entry point from the rear yard. (Not the new stairways systems we’re building attached)

A porch addition will add much needed extra space for this client. Here we have it framed out and are about to begin drywall work.

Before we start drywall though, note the application of spray foam insulation in the bottom photo. It costs a bit more than regular insulation, but to get the required R-value and efficiency desired, this will prove to be a home run.

The framing and stairs are underway for some much needed room.
The key here is that the new porch serve as an all-season space, so insulation will be important.
With the spray insulation carefully applied (note the ceiling), when this new area is complete it will not only be easy to heat and cool, but enjoy an efficiency unheard of years ago.
